Clowning Workshop for Poets & Performers
at the ottawa small press book fair

When: Saturday, June 16, 2007

Location: Jack Purcell Community Centre
Elgin near Gilmour, 320 Jack Purcell Lane
Ottawa, Ontario

Time: 1pm  4pm

Attention poets!  If you want to practice getting comfortable being on
stage and working with your audience, please consider joining our
introductory workshop on personal clowning taught by KC McLean, drama
instructor at the Nepean Creative Arts Centre.

What is clowning?  KC explains, It starts with a simple red nose.  This
little mask is the key to unlocking the clown that is within you.  Forget
the circus, the balloons, the white make-up and big shoes; personal
clowning is a journey of self-discovery, character development, connecting
with your art and your audience.  You will learn that performance comes
from a simple place of personal expression.  An actor plays someone else;
a clown plays himself and you, while holding a larger-than-life lens to
the world.

Admission is $5 to cover rent of the room and an item for barter for KC.
Shes happy to accept a piece of your art or a gift given from your best
intentions.  Support the SPAN-O Small Press Bookfair and learn a practice
to improve you art.  I hope to see you there.

Please RSVP with Sean Zio at 613-237-8763.  Space is limited.
